Reasons and Causes of Cracked Heels:

Reasons and Causes of Cracked Heels

I have had personally experienced the problem of cracks various times. What I could observe is that this problem is severe in winter. My skin use to get red and the dead cells start shedding. The cracks of the feet accompany the following issues as we;

  • Itching
  • Flaky skin
  • Peeling skin
  • Rashes

The cracks are caused due to lack of moistures in the skin of your feet. This is might be the reason that I had been suffering from this issue in winter. Here are some common causes of cracks and dryness of feet.

  • Taking hot shower many times can lead your skin to get dried.
  • The use of dry and non-moisturizing soaps can result in cracks; especially in dry weather such soaps should be replaced with quality bathing products.
  • Aging is the major reason of cracked heels.
  • Some medical conditions like high-glucose level in blood, low blood pressure and thyroid disease also lead to cracked heels.

I don’t go for artificial ways of dealing the dried heels. Some of the best natural ways I give preference to cope up with this issue are given below.

The day I started using lemon juice to heal my cracks was not less than a blessing for me. Lemons contain natural acids which are great to nourish the skin cells. I got rid of the dead cells under my feet when I started scrubbing the feet with lemon. You can also soften your heels with the gentle scrub of lemon and papaya every night.

Hot Water:

When I had the problem of cracked heels, I used to soak my feet with hot water every night before sleeping. Scrub your feet with pumice stone and rinse them off in hot and clean water for 10-15 minutes. Once you are done with this process, dry the feet with the towel and apply crack-cream. Make sure you have properly moisturized your feet and none of its portion is left. This whole process will soften your feet and when you wake-up the next morning, I am sure you will be glad to see your soft feet.

Paraffin Wax:

Applying Paraffin Wax

I strongly recommend paraffin wax because this is a great thing to cure the dryness of the feet. You should heat it and add some olive oil or mustard oil in it, then scrub the cracked heels in a proper way. Wearing the socks after paraffin wax application will be great because it will cover the feel in a proper way the whole night. Don’t forget to wash and moisturize your feet the next day before leaving for office.

Soft Scrubbing of Your Feet:

This is a great idea to go with. You can soften your feet with lighter scrubbing every night. Make sure to keep these things in hand before starting the soft scrub of your feet; lemon juice, honey, olive oil and brown sugar. Add all of these things in a nominal sized water tub containing medium hot water. Mix everything properly and then dip your feet into the tub. Let your feet remain in it for 20 to 30 minutes and repeat the process after every two nights. I am sure this will give you great relief and you will see that how beautiful your heels look. The cracks will soon start filling up naturally and all the dead cells under the feet will initiate getting removed.

When the mixture is ready, spread it all under your feet. Make sure the milk is neither too hot nor too cold to disturb your body temperature. This mixture is great in terms of softening your feet’s skin and giving a silky look to your heels. The bananas are good for health. They contain enough proteins, fats and carbohydrates to keep you healthy and active. But bananas are equally awesome for the cracked heels. The banana pulp mask can be prepared by shaking the fresh bananas in water and scrubbing this material onto your feet. Trust me this is a perfect scrub to fetch your feet’s skin and help you get rid of dryness in summer. Here one thing I would like to say is that you should allow this mash to remain at your cracked feet for about 10 minutes. This process can be repeated every night before going to bed.
