When someone has hiccups, they try to stop it without realizing that all they need to do is distract the mind from the state that it is in. When we eat or drink something sour, our body tells us by giving us a shock. In the same way, when we get hiccups, swallowing about half a teaspoon of vinegar will shock the mind and it will forget about the hiccups. Make sure to drink a glass of water after the vinegar or better yet, mix the vinegar in a glass water and drink it slowly.

5. Peanut Butter
While this sounds like a yummy remedy, well, it really is a yummy one. Peanut butter has a thick consistency which makes it quite hard to swallow. This causes us to break our normal breathing pattern and gets rid of the hiccups tastefully. All you need to do is put a teaspoon of the gooey goodness in your mouth and try and swallow it. Do not chew it, just swallow it. If you need, drink a glass of water with it.

4. Use a Paper Bag
We have all seen this method either on TV or in reality and have wondered if it really works. Well, it surely does. Better than you could imagine actually. Just hold a paper bag around your mouth tightly so that no air can escape from the sides. Now, breathe in and out slowly. This will increase the amount of carbon dioxide we are breathing in and therefore we will breathe heavier to replace that with oxygen. The hiccups will disappear before you know it.
